The Boat Explosion at the Grapevine marina (Silver Lake Marina) occurred on Sunday, October 13, 2024, around 1:15 p.m. A boat caught fire, possibly due to an electrical short or fuel leak, which caused flames to spread to nearby vessels. At least four boats were significantly damaged, and six others sustained minor to moderate damage.
One person was injured, suffering a broken leg and possible head trauma after being thrown into a canopy during the explosion.
Firefighters faced challenges due to limited water access and had to lay over 2,000 feet of hose to reach a nearby hydrant.
Multiple fire departments responded, including crews from Grapevine, Bedford, Colleyville, DFW Airport, Flower Mound, Euless, Lewisville, Hurst, and North Richland Hills.
The fire was ultimately brought under control, but it caused extensive damage across the marina.
