On Tuesday, February 10, at 8:52 p.m., Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) units responded to a 911 call reporting a structure fire at a home located at 3163 Modella Avenue (Council District 13). When firefighters arrived at the one-story residence, they reported out with heavy fire coming from the front of the home. Initial reports indicated two people were trapped inside, so they immediately went into rescue mode. Firefighters were able to rescue a woman and a man from inside the home, both of which were taken to Parkland Hospital with varying degrees of smoke inhalation. The woman was reported to be in stable condition, but the man was critical and had to have CPR done on him during transport. His current condition is unknown. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire, declaring an “out taps” at 9:20 p.m. There were no other injuries reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
