2nd Alarm Apartment Fire in Bloomfield

Today, the twenty seventh of June, at 16:36 the Bloomfield Fire Department was dispatched to 88 Monroe Place for reports of a fire, automatic aid from Belleville and Nutley was also dispatched. At 16:38 Car 3 arrived reporting the building to be evacuating and alarms sounding. Smoke conditions were identified on the third floor and shortly after confirmed fire on the third and fourth floor, a working fire was declared at 16:43.The second alarm units were toned out. Lines were stretched to units 304 and 404 where the fire was located. A water supply was established and crews made their way to the roof, they identified multiple hot spots on the TIC and made inspection cuts. At 17:02 fire in unit 304 was knocked and crews were opening the ceiling. At 17:15 fire was reported still to be in the walls of unit 404. At 17:22 the remainder of the fire in unit 404 was knocked. At 17:50 Nutley, West Orange, and Orange were released. At 19:40 Newark was released from house coverage and around that time Bloomfield units started to be released. Lieutenant Icolari was set as the coordinator for displaced residents. At 21:06 the street was reopened.
