Two people were killed Sunday afternoon when a small plane crashed near Hicks Airfield in north Fort Worth, sparking a massive fire.
Officials said the aircraft went down around 1:45PM, hitting several parked 18-wheelers and trailers in an industrial area near the airfield. The impact caused a large explosion and heavy black smoke that could be seen for miles.
Firefighters arrived quickly and contained the flames. No one on the ground was injured.
Authorities confirmed both people onboard the aircraft were killed. Their names have not been released.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the cause of the crash.
